Patty is an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist.
She graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture in 2002 with a
Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She was awarded national
certification in Acupuncture from the NCCAOM and is licensed to practice
by the Massachusetts Board of Medicine. Since graduation Patty has
worked in a variety of settings as an acupuncturist. She has been part
of a group practice in Porter Square, Cambridge, and has treated
substance abuse patients at Dimock Community Health in Roxbury as part
of an outpatient detoxification program. Since September of 2002 she has
also worked as a teaching assistant at the New England School of
Acupuncture.
Through her practice in Traditional Chinese
Medicine Patricia sees herself as a guide that helps promotes the body's
own internal healing mechanism. The theory behind acupuncture and
Chinese herbal medicine recognizes the body as an integrated, whole
system. In health there is free, unencumbered flow of Qi (the Chinese
word for energy) within the body. The Qi flows within an intricate
network of meridians that traverse the whole body. The circulation of Qi
can become disrupted, causing normal functions in the body to become
impaired resulting in illness, pain, or disease processes. Chinese
medicine works by moving energy to strengthen and balance the body's
functioning, and in this process allows the body to regain equilibrium.
Patricia likes to begin her treatments with acupuncture and then
incorporate herbal medicine into the treatment if it is appropriate and
if the patient so desires. |
