Holistic Manual Therapies 617-591-9200
Felice
is a physical therapist specializing in holistic manual
treatment techniques. She integrates work with the body, mind and spirit
for the facilitation of healing. After completing her undergraduate
degree in psychology in 1975, she studied physical therapy at Emory
University School of Medicine, graduating in 1980. Felice started her
career in rehabilitation hospitals focusing on the treatment of patients
with neurological injuries.
In
1988 she went into private practice and started studying CranioSacral
Therapy, Myofascial Release and other holistic manual therapies. She has
completed all levels of training for CranioSacral Therapy and Visceral
Manipulation. She is a certified teaching assistant for the Upledger
Institute in CranioSacral Therapy and assists in Visceral Manipulation
workshops.
Felice integrates a variety of gentle techniques based on the specific
needs of the individual. She works with both adults and children. Her
work is beneficial for a variety of issues including pain, headaches,
spine, joint and neurological dysfunctions, as well as other
musculoskeletal disorders. The body's own ability to heal is
facilitated through the treatment process.
CranioSacral Therapy:
The CranioSacral System is involved with production, circulation and
reabsorption of cerebral spinal fluid which is essential for maintaining
the optimal physiological environment for the function of the brain and
spinal cord. CranioSacral Therapy is the use of gentle techniques to
release tensions and restrictions in the bones and membranes to improve
fluid flow, as well as diminish pressure on the spinal cord, spinal
nerves and brain. This reduces and improves function.
Visceral Manipulation:
Each organ has its own inherent motion in relationship to itself
(motility), as well as what it is next to (mobility); organs, muscles,
the body wall, nerves, bones and the spinal column. Restrictions in
mobility and motility create abnormal pressures and interfere with
normal motion of these surrounding structures, contributing to pain and
dysfunction. Releasing restrictions using Visceral Manipulation
diminishes pain and improves function.
Myofascial Release:
The fascia is a strong connective tissue that supports the body, is
multi-layered and continuous. It surrounds organs, nerves, blood
vessels, bones, brain and spinal cord. It is also around and through our
muscles. Restrictions in one part of this system can effect that part,
or any other portion of the body. Restrictions create pain and
dysfunction. The gentle Myofascial Release techniques can free them.
These and other techniques are employed to encourage the
body's own power to heal so balance can be restored. |
